In Sitebeam, a Title exclusively refers to the <title> tag of a page, and nothing else. Therefore each page only has one Title. Compare with Heading.

Titles are important as they define the name of the current page to a computer, and appear in several places:

  • When the page is displayed in search engine results
  • To search engines when scoring a page for keywords
  • When the page is linked to by many social tools, such as Facebook
  • In the title bar of the current tab or web browser
  • When the page is bookmarked

In Sitebeam

Titles are tested by the Search engine results test.
